Pretred celebrated the grand opening of its new tire processing and barrier manufacturing facility in Aurora, Colorado, on Thursday, June 4. The event marked an important milestone for the company, its partners, and the continued growth of circular manufacturing in Colorado.
Located at 6550 N Denali Street, the new 152,000-square-foot facility gives Pretred the ability to expand its work transforming end-of-life tires into high-performance recycled rubber barriers used across roadways, construction sites, pedestrian areas, erosion and flood control projects, landscaping applications, and other infrastructure settings.
Pretred extends its sincere thanks to the state and local partners, investors, agencies, collaborators, customers, vendors, and team members who helped bring the project to life. The opening of this facility reflects years of work, coordination, and shared commitment to advancing practical circular economy solutions in Colorado.
The expansion follows an $11.2 million multi-year grant awarded to Pretred by the Colorado Circular Communities Enterprise. The grant supports the expansion of Pretred’s operations and its ability to process waste tires into crumb rubber, creating a stronger end market for a material that has historically been difficult to reuse at scale. The new facility has the capacity to turn four million waste tires from across Colorado into about 30,000 barriers each year, diverting approximately 100 million pounds of waste tires from landfills or incineration annually.
The grand opening included a formal ribbon cutting, remarks from state and local partners, and tours of the new facility. Guests had the opportunity to see the manufacturing process up close and learn how discarded tires are converted into long-lasting barrier products designed for real-world performance.
Pretred’s barriers are built to last for decades in demanding environments. At the end of their service life, they can be processed back into crumb rubber and made into new barriers, creating a truly circular product that keeps valuable material in use.
Pretred is grateful to everyone who attended the grand opening and to all those who have supported the company’s growth, mission, and work to expand circular manufacturing. This facility represents a meaningful step forward, and it would not have been possible without the many people and organizations who contributed their time, resources, expertise, and belief in the project.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible.
